5 tips to lower your driving costs!

When it comes to maintaining a healthy car and paying for insurance, fuel, repairs and so much more, it can become a pricey affair. At this time, we know everyone needs to keep on top of their bills - so let Croxdale Fast Fit give you some suggestions of areas we think will help you lower your vehicle costs

5. Carry Out Regular Checks

Visually check your vehicle regularly. Are there any bulbs out? Do your tyres have good tread! Do your wipers clean the screen effectively and do you have plenty of screen wash in your vehicle for these often grimy road conditions at this time of year? Pay attention to tyre pressure too.

If you find any issues with anything we mentioned or would feel more comfortable with the help of a professional, contact Croxdale Fast Fit for a vehicle health check, which covers all these points plus much more.

4. Plan Your Routes

If you’re planning a trip somewhere, plan your route carefully. If you end up covering more miles than you need to, this just means you're burning unnecessary fuel. Make sure you know the best route is next time you take a trip to minimise your use of fuel, shorten journey time and save some cash.

3. Don’t Ignore Warning Lights

Warning lights are in your car for a reason. If left, potential problems can worsen over time, so when it comes to any warning lights make sure to address your drivers manual, or book in for a Health Check at your nearest Croxdale Fast Fit branch.

2. Drive Efficiently

Increase the life of your vehicle - and use less fuel by diving more efficiently. You can do things like:

- Braking in good time when coming to a stop rather than braking harshly,

- Braking less! Look ahead when driving to see potential hazards and adjust your driving accordingly - you may not need to brake if you anticipate well in advance.

- Slow down when cornering,

- Try not to catch kerbs when pulling up or cornering, which can damage your wheel and also affect wheel alignment (which will in turn affect the condition of your tyre)

Take a look at how you drive and see if there's anything you can change to get more life out of your vehicle and reduce your costs.

1. Don’t Skip Services!

Our number 1 top tip is to make sure you look after your vehicle correctly. This can include simply staying on top of due services or MOT’s, helping you avoid running into big bills further down the line and helps identify any potential issues and keep you safe on the road.

Making sure you carry out regular servicing for your vehicle or the annual MOT Test (once your vehicle is over 3 years old), beats ignoring your car and potentially getting unwanted and expensive bills . Contact your nearest Croxdale Fast Fit Autocentre to book your vehicle in for it’s MOT or Service with one of our friendly and experienced vehicle technicians.
