Is Your Vehicle Ready for the Holidays?

When days get colder and nights get darker it can be important to make sure that your vehicle is in top condition and to also consider how to help keep more vulnerable road users safe. Ensure that your vehicle is operating efficiently this holiday season help avoid accidents on the road with top tips for preparing your vehicle for the cold winter season.

We’ve come up with 4 main areas to pay attention to this winter to make sure your vehicle is performing at its best…

Tyres.

The tyres on your vehicle are the one things connecting you to the road, so it should go without being said that it’s pretty important they are in good working condition, especially for any wet or icy winter weather to come. Though the legal tread depth is 1.6mm the team at Croxdale Fast Fit would advise maintaining a tread depth of at least 3mm for just that bit extra support on the roads during the cold weather.

Or make sure your tyres are fully capable of dealing with anything winter throws at you with winter tyres from Croxdale Fast Fit. Learn all about the differences between standard and winter tyres.

Brakes.

Going hand in hand with your tyres from our first point, your vehicle’s brakes make it possible for you to stop quickly in an emergency. As part of our FREE vehicle winter health check, we’ll check over your brake systems. If your vehicle pulls to one side when applying pressure to the brake, or makes a strange squeaking or scraping bring your vehicle over you your nearest Croxdale Fast Fit autocentre and tell your Croxdale Fast Fit technician about any worries you may be having. We’ll check your brakes over and get you back on the road in no time.

Lights.

Thanks to limited visibility from snow or rain and both mornings and evenings becoming darker it’s crucial to make sure the lights on your car are effective enough to keep your roads lit on your travels. If dirt builds up in your vehicles headlights it can reduce the effectiveness of your lights altogether. Making sure to regularly maintain clean lights (headlights especially) will greatly improve your visibility when driving at night. If you need your lights looking at or need a bulb replacing, call your local Croxdale Fast Fit and we’ll get your vehicle booked in at a time that suits you.

Battery.

Battery failure at any time of the year isn’t ideal, so when your battery fails on you in the middle of winter it’s certainly not the best situation to be in. If you’re planning any long trips this holiday season, whether it’s to go Christmas shopping or visiting family, make sure to get your vehicle’s battery checked to make sure you won’t get any unwanted surprises on your travels.
